Collection: Lucky Girl
In the vibrant world of pop music, where trends come and go, Lucky Girl stands out as a duo with staying power. Formed by lifelong friends Madison and Princess Mouse, along with their producer RecNaruKami, Lucky Girl’s journey is a testament to creativity, resilience, and the strength of friendship. From their early days in ballet class to their evolution into a pop sensation, Lucky Girl is making waves and turning heads, especially in the Dallas music scene.
The story of Lucky Girl began in 2006 when Madison and Princess Mouse first met in a ballet class. At just two and three years old, they formed an instant bond that would only grow stronger over the years. They were inseparable, doing everything together—from attending preschool at Primrose to playing with Barbies and even training bra shopping. Their friendship was the foundation for what would eventually become Lucky Girl.
However, in 2012, their friendship faced a challenge when Madison moved to California. The distance caused them to drift apart, but in 2019, they reconnected in a big way, reuniting to see The 1975 in Las Vegas for Madison’s 16th birthday. This reunion rekindled their bond, and they soon began visiting each other frequently until Madison moved back to Texas in 2021.
Their shared love for music was always a part of their friendship, but it wasn’t until 2020 that they began to take their careers seriously. They formed an indie band called “honeydew,” but the pandemic and distance made it difficult to keep the momentum going. In 2022, they decided to try their hand at punk music with a new band called “Kings and Robbers.” While they enjoyed the genre, something didn’t feel right—they weren’t true “punk stars” at heart.
It was during this period of exploration that they discovered their true calling in pop music. They began writing demos using beats found on YouTube, but it wasn’t until they teamed up with producer RecNaruKami in 2023 that Lucky Girl was truly born. With RecNaruKami’s guidance and their newfound passion for pop, the duo found their groove, and Lucky Girl emerged as a fresh and exciting new act.
Lucky Girl’s sound and style are a unique blend of influences that set them apart from other pop acts. Princess Mouse has always been inspired by Lady Gaga, particularly her album “The Fame,” admiring how Gaga asserted her power and created a strong fan base. RecNaruKami, on the other hand, brings a diverse range of influences to the table, including Daft Punk, Björk, and NewJeans. Together, these inspirations create a sound that is both nostalgic and futuristic, blending elements of retrofuturism with modern pop sensibilities.
Their aesthetic is rooted in what they call “genuine utopian futurism,” a vision of the future imagined in the 90s and early 2000s. It’s bright, flashy, and fun, reflecting a world where anything is possible. This optimistic, forward-thinking vibe is central to Lucky Girl’s identity, both in their music and their visual presentation.
One of Lucky Girl’s most notable achievements is their single “Supersonic,” a track that quickly became a fan favorite. The song’s creation was inspired by a session of playing the rhythm-based dance video game “Space Channel 5,” a 1999 classic known for its bright, futuristic graphics. The game’s influence is evident in the song’s catchy, repetitive lyrics and upbeat energy.
Originally, Lucky Girl planned to debut with another single, “CKNGMMS,” but decided it belonged on their upcoming EP, “Lucky World.” This led them to create “Supersonic” from scratch—a decision that proved to be the right one. Written and composed by RecNaruKami, the song immediately resonated with the group. They rushed into the studio to record it, eager to share it with the world.
The release of “Supersonic” was met with overwhelming love and support. The duo even had the chance to perform it live at Hyperpop Hell in January, where the crowd’s enthusiastic chants of “supersonic, supersonic…” left the group emotional and grateful. The song has since become a defining moment in their career, and it holds a special place in their hearts.
While the Dallas music scene is known for its diversity, it hasn’t always been welcoming to girly pop acts like Lucky Girl. With Denton’s alternative scene and Dallas’ focus on rap and hip hop, there wasn’t a clear place for a pop duo like Lucky Girl. But rather than be discouraged, the group decided to carve out their own space in Fort Worth, an area that doesn’t have a dominant music scene. They’re determined to create a pop scene where others can join and enjoy.
Supporting local musicians is also important to Lucky Girl, and they’re eager to collaborate with others in the Dallas area. They’ve already made a name for themselves with their live performances, including their first headlining show, which was a resounding success. The duo worked tirelessly to prepare for the event, designing merch, putting together visuals, and recording covers alongside their original songs. The result was a show that felt like a dream come true for both the performers and their fans.
Lucky Girl is just getting started. With their unique sound, creative vision, and determination, they have all the ingredients for long-term success. As they continue to record and release new music, they envision performing at music festivals across the U.S. and eventually taking their show on the road internationally.
Their debut EP, “Lucky World,” is a reflection of their journey so far—a playful yet profound exploration of life through the lens of their experiences (and their Sims characters). The EP is a reminder that, just like in the game, they control their own destiny. They can become pop stars, go to parties, talk to cute boys—whatever they set their minds to. Lucky Girl is living by their motto, “live like a sim,” and it’s this fearless attitude that will carry them far in the music industry.
As they continue to break new ground and defy expectations, Lucky Girl is poised to become a major force in pop music. With an album in the works and an ever-growing fan base, the future looks incredibly bright for Madison, Princess Mouse, and RecNaruKami. Their journey is a reminder that with passion, creativity, and a little bit of luck, anything is possible.
