“Sleeping Dog came into mind when I discovered an old 14th Century quote from Geoffrey Chaucer ‘It is nought good a sleping hound to wake.‘ In a more modern approach it has been used as ‘Best to let sleeping dogs lie’ appearing in Walter Scott's Redgauntlet in 1824. The meaning was to not cause any unnecessary problems. Let it go.”

This is what Rin, lead vocalist of Sleeping Dog had to say about the inspiration of their name. Starting the band in 2012, Rin was influenced by the likes of Linkin Park, Korn, and Limp Biscuit. Beginning the journey to wright songs about his story. 
“ It's all about connecting with people who feel the same way in all the imperfections and adversities of life.”
Sleeping Dog grows with every album, Rin reflects over his debut album ‘Otis Empire’.
“It's been a long journey since then. Looking back I realize how far things have come and how different I am now . Sleeping Dog has grown so much. It's only going to keep going and keep evolving. I don't plan on shying away from any of it. “
Their most streamed song currently is WHAT? From their MELTWATER PULSE 1B album release in 2023. “I appreciate all the recognition the track has gotten. That was a transitional period of the band's life. I feel it was the catalyst that led to the evolution of what was to come. It brought out a persona I had never shown in Sleeping Dog.” Rin gives us insight on the creation of the track. “I've had WHAT? written since 2019. All the guitars, bass, and drums were recorded. I never knew how the vocals should've been until the summer of 2022. The vocals only came to me later in my life.” 
Sleeping Dog is a name worth remembering, their music video for “Silence of the Dogs” just recently released and they have a live show coming up on October 26th at Bar Sinister.
